So, we’ve talked about what to look out for when finding and obtaining a job as a therapist. But what about when you actually get there? Being the new person in any job can feel confusing, vulnerable, or overwhelming. Especially as a therapist - you may be fresh out of school, or recovering from burnout, or starting during a funding crisis, or you may be the sole replacement for three people that just left. You could be walking into a long term job where you’ll make lifelong friends, or you may be stepping into a flurry of chaos and disorganization (or maybe both?). This field is not for the faint of heart!
Drawing from my own experience here, I’ll share some good signs, some bad signs, and some other things that are up to your own discretion.
